Key Funding Priorities

Student Scholarships

Student Scholarships are needed to attract the most qualified students and assist them financially in achieving their educational goals. Scholarships enable students, many of whom have significant family and financial responsibilities, to devote their time and energy to pursuing their academic goals. Gifts can be directed to the college’s general scholarship fund or targeted to a specific academic program. Scholarships can also be endowed to honor an individual or organization, thus continuing in perpetuity.

Endowed Chairs

The goal of an Endowed Chair is to attract eminent scholars to join the college faculty. Chair holders are able to use endowment income to pursue research that enriches classroom teaching, advances knowledge and solves problems in the fields of health and human sciences. Endowed Chairs can be created for the college or for a specific academic program.

Endowed Professorships

The goal of Endowed Professorships is to attract the best and brightest teachers and scholars to join the faculty of the College. Endowed Professorships allow faculty members to advance their research and teaching endeavors, and carry out work in community partnerships. Endowed Professorships can be created for the college or for a specific academic program.

Science Technology and Equipment

Healthcare and science education at Georgia State strives to use cutting-edge technology, equipment and techniques. The college needs funding to replace and upgrade its equipment and technology to meet the current state-of-the-art levels used by healthcare facilities in our community. Gifts for technology and equipment can be made to the college or targeted to a specific academic program.

Community Partnerships

Project Healthy Grandparents

Project Healthy Grandparents at Georgia State recently bagan its 14th year of service to Atlanta families where grandparents are raising their grandchildren. The program combines the solid foundation of academic research with health care, social work case management, parenting classes, grandparent support groups, legal assistance and specialized mental health services. To date, over 650 families with 1,450 children have benefited from this program.

Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE)

GILEE is a joint project of Georgia State and local, state, federal and international law enforcement agencies. GILEE works to enhance inter-agency cooperation through educational programs for senior officials, primarily in the areas of counter-terrorism and drug interdiction.

Center for Healthy Development

The Center for Healthy Development was established at the college in 2008.  Its mission is to promote the health, safety, well-being, and quality of life of children, adults, and families with developmental disabilities and prevent child mistreatment through research, service and advocacy.

National Center for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

The National Center for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren was launched at Georgia State Universiy in 2002, and seeks to improve the well-being of children raised in intergenerational families by promoting best practices in service delivery, and by fostering research that is relevant to the formation of sound public policy.
